Dental Sedation
Comfortable, stress-free dental care you can trust.
Comfortable and Stress-Free Dental Visits
At Clark Family Dental, we understand that visiting the dentist can feel overwhelming for some patients, especially those with anxiety, special healthcare needs, or who require complex procedures. That’s why we’re proud to offer safe and effective sedation options designed to make your experience more relaxed and comfortable. Sedation dentistry allows you to receive the care you need without fear, discomfort, or stress.
Whether you need a calming aid for a routine visit or deeper sedation for a longer procedure, we provide two trusted solutions tailored to your needs: Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) and General Anesthesia. These options are designed to help patients of all ages feel at ease while ensuring their safety throughout the appointment. Below, you can explore each method to learn how sedation dentistry can transform your dental experience.
Types of Sedation We Offer
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is a safe and gentle sedation option that helps you relax during dental treatment. You breathe it through a small mask over your nose, and it works within minutes. You’ll stay awake and aware but feel calm and less sensitive to discomfort. It’s great for patients with mild to moderate anxiety, a strong gag reflex, or those having cleanings, fillings, or simple extractions. Nitrous oxide acts quickly, wears off fast, is safe for all ages, and lets you drive yourself home afterward.
General Anesthesia
General anesthesia is a deeper form of sedation used for complex dental procedures, long appointments, or patients with severe anxiety, special needs, or trouble staying still. Unlike nitrous oxide, it puts you fully asleep so you will not feel pain, be aware of the procedure, or remember it afterward. At Clark Family Dental, we may work with a licensed dental anesthesiologist or refer you to a trusted surgical center to ensure safety and comfort. General anesthesia is used only when truly needed and always under close monitoring. It is often recommended for oral surgery, multiple extractions, or completing extensive dental work in one visit.
