Clenching, Grinding, and Jaw Pain

Relief from jaw pain, headaches, and teeth grinding starts here.

Understanding TMJ Disorder

Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your jaw to your skull and allows you to chew, speak, yawn, and move your mouth comfortably. You have two TMJs—one on each side of your face—and they should work in harmony. When these joints become misaligned or inflamed, the condition is known as TMJ disorder or TMD.

TMD is a chronic degenerative condition that can take years to develop, leading to a wide range of uncomfortable symptoms, including:

  • Jaw pain or soreness
  • Clicking or popping sounds in the jaw
  • Headaches, neck, or shoulder pain
  • Locked jaw or limited movement
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
